Hi, friends! My name is Lila (she/her) and I'm a 26 year old college student who's studying physics and anthropology and who's from just barely outside of Washington, D.C. in the USA! And I also happen to be multiracial! Growing up in as a mixed race Black American/Lebanese/Cherokee girl in one of the most racially/ethnically diverse and intergrated areas in the US has given me a pretty neat perspective on life. I've learned that life in this corner of the universe isn't black or white—hell, it's not even gray!—rather, life is meant to be lived and experienced in the full rainbow of technicolor

For a long while I've felt that given my background, I might be able give a unique perspective in this day and age. In some ways, being multiracial in the US has become way easier. But, in other ways, it's also become uniquely difficult. Life in Technicolor is my attempt to really dig into the complexities of what it means to be mixed race in the 21st century. This blog is where I'd really like to explore modern day topics through the lense of mixed race identity. And, of course, amidst those serious topics, I also want to tackle some more fun topics too!

My biggest hope for Life in Technicolor is that my fellow mixed race human beans can find solace and support here and that non mixed race folk can gain some perspective and understanding and, most importantly, some empathy for people who may not be completely like them. So, with that being said, dear friends, I hope you'll join me on this journey and experience the adventure that awaits with me.
